Join Us for 5K in 5Points! // May 21

April 23, 2011

Join us for the first annual 5K in 5Points, on Saturday, May 21, 2011. The 5K Run/Walk will tour Denverʼs iconic Five Points neighborhood, beginning at Curtis Park and ending at the Five Points Jazz Festival. The goal of the 5K in 5Points is to highlight local parks, businesses
and cultural assets; promote health and wellness in the Five Points Community; and raise support  for YouthBiz and the Rotary Club of Five Points Cultural District.

Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome and will receive a 5K in 5Points t-shirt, a goodie bag full of treats and coupons and enjoy local jazz music at the race start line. At the end of the race, participants can stick around and celebrate music, culture and the history of Denverʼs History Five Points Neighborhoods at the Five Points Jazz Festival. The Festival features performances of Denverʼs finest jazz musicians, food and art booths.

Daisy Rocha, a senior at George Washington High School and Youth Marketing Intern at YouthBiz, created the initial idea for the 5K in 5Points and is playing a central role in coordinating and promoting the event. “The 5k is very important to this community because it is bringing everybody together,” Daisy explains. “I love the Five Points neighborhood because of the diversity. With the culture and food and people here, there really is no other neighborhood like it.”
