BASH AT THE BIZ Fashion Show Gala
October 23rd, 2008
The catwalk was filled with artistic street wear, academy award inspired couture and intrinsically romantic designs as the models took the stage for YouthBiz's inaugural Bash at the Biz Fashion Show on October 23rd.
YouthBiz celebrated the achievements and bright futures of inner-city youth with over 300 of Denver's fashion elite, business and community leaders, and other distinguished guests.

Among the evening's models were Denver Nuggets, Broncos Cheerleaders, Denver City Council Members, a Mayoral Appointee, and an acclaimed Denver Post Writer. But the true stars of the show were the energetic youth leaders who walked the runway with style and grace as their stories were shared by the evening's Mistress of Ceremonies Brandi Shigley.  At 5'1", 15 year-old Jessica Salas shared her dream of playing basketball at Vanderbilt University, while Thomas Jefferson senior, Larnell Anderson, simply wants to "impact the world in a good way!"

The evening also featured the styles of Denver's hottest designers, which include: Rachel Tai, DVLP Clothing, Equillibrium Clothing, Tyes by Tara and Fallene Wells. For those with a forte for fashion, check-out the websites of these unique, local designers, as well as Denver's fashion hub, Fashion Denver!.

GRADUATION
YouthBiz staff, volunteers, family of YouthBiz trainees and community members recently celebrated the achievements of trainees at the YouthBiz Summer Graduation. Youth members engaged in city-wide job shadows, completed mock interviews with business professional, provided over 200 hours of community service, and launched a new recycling program at YouthBiz. The graduation is an event where both pride is felt in the work that youth carried out and in hearing first-hand of the impact of YouthBiz programs.

Graduations are held at the end of every session, three times per year.
